Job Summary

The Warehouse Manager is accountable for all warehouse activities including storage and distribution of products. Supervises warehouse and delivery personnel. He/She shall be aligned with and support the overall goals and objectives of the entire company and actively provide input and support throughout the company. Strives for 100% of customers to Experience the Difference. Ensures Abatix is represented in a positive manner. 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Supervise the activities of workers engaged in receiving, storing, and shipping
  • Interview, select, and train warehouse personnel
  • Plan and implement warehouse safety and security programs and activities in accordance with company safety policies
  • Review workload and prioritize work to ensure delivery times, locations, and customer requirements are consistently met
  • Inspect physical condition of warehouse, vehicle fleets and equipment; order maintenance and repair as necessary
  • Maintain preventative maintenance program for vehicle fleets including trucks and forklifts
  • Schedule and monitor freight and parcel shipments in compliance with company preferred carrier program
  • Maintain adequate staffing level so warehouse, shipping, and receiving are conducted in an effective and efficient manner
  • Plan and coordinate work, train and motivate, monitor and evaluate performance of warehouse team; ensure their ability to safely operate material handling equipment
  • Provide appropriate equipment and racking to ensure safe transport and storage of all materials
  • Develop, counsel, document, and discipline staff as necessary within company culture and guidelines
  • Maintain accurate inventory records through adherence to receiving, shipping, and cycle counting policies and timely data entry
  • Resolve discrepancies regarding shipments, receipts, and all other transactions
  • Ensure materials are stored properly to conserve space, provide for efficient stocking and picking, and comply with company safety policies; oversee rotation of dated merchandise.
  • Evaluate and recommend continuous improvement projects to supervisor
  • Participate in various departmental and interdepartmental meetings or training as required
  • Other duties as necessary 


Qualifications and Skills

  • High school degree, diploma, or GED certificate from a certified institution preferred
  • warehouse management experience preferred 
  • Must be able to complete forklift training and maintain certification in compliance with company policy
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal & written English language skills are required
  • Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism
  • A team player who handles multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment
  • Exhibit leadership skills, motivation, dependability, punctuality, and organization skills
  • Display high sense of urgency
  • General office skills including proficient computer skills
  • Ability to compile & decipher information in spreadsheet format
  • Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra, geometry and general business math
